Clinical Social Worker

I obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver over 30 years ago and am a licensed clinical social worker working primarily with adults who have depression, anxiety and general life problems. I use a variety of techniques depending on the needs and desires of each client. For a client who is dealing with the effects of past or recent trauma I often us EMDR or Lifespan Integration to assist the person in processing and integrating the trauma and thus be able to move on with his or her life. I also use a mix of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in learning to calm emotions and stay centered in the present.

Couple’s therapy is an area I have very much enjoyed. Often couples start their relationship with a strong connection, but for many reasons find that connection disappearing and negative feelings and fighting replacing it. I am able to provide a safe place for couples to discuss and work out the problems in their relationship. I employ a variety of exercises that couples can do at home so that the therapy can extend beyond “the hour.” I know that humor is one of the quickest ways to connect and try to keep the sessions fun while still being productive. As a therapist who believes that anyone needing help should be able to find it I accept most insurances including Medicare and Veteran’s Choice.

I know that not all marriages will continue. I firmly believe that couples who are splitting up do better working together on achieving a fair agreement regarding parenting, property, and finances and therefore I have served as a divorce mediator for 30 years. I am a mediator with the Colorado Office of Dispute Resolution for Routt and Moffat counties. The fee is kept affordable in order that all couples may use these services and I often work with parties and their attorneys to achieve the best agreement.

I enjoy my work very much. Please call with any questions.
